Watercolor Painting - Western Art

This is a reference photo that I found recently on WetCanvas in the reference library. Although I really don't care for the red skull & coloring in the photo, something about it grabbed me and inspired me to paint it.

The photo will be a loose reference as I plan on just using it as a guide. I really like all the cast shadows and want to try some different techniques & colors & thought this might be the perfect chance to try them out!

I love this image, too. I can hardly wait to see what you do with it. How did you get that slide show on your sidebar?

Thanks Andrea, yes I can hardly wait too ;) The slideshow is the main reason I decided to finally upgrade my blog as the old templates don't have the feature. It is a gadget you can add to blogger and you upload your images using picasa or flicker(I think) I did a demo of how to set up blogs for some fellow artists and I had to have all the new gadets :) If you need a hand let me know ;)

After blogging for over 4 years with the old model I am, quite simply, afraid of trying to transfer it. I love the slide show idea, though... hmmm...

lol I did the same thing. I hummed & hahhed for a week or too then took the plunge, it did not go well :( But if I had set it up initially I think it would have been a no brainer. I originally set up my blog as http://www.stateofartportraits.com/blog.htm rather than as a subdomain as I should have at http://blog.stateofartportraits.com I had support from my webhosting company (ehosting.ca) walk through it with me and then it was easy to fix up and get running properly. It was a painful week leading up to getting help from support though, definitely wait until you are done your commissions ;)
